David Owens
CEO Thames Water
David joined Thames Water during December 2006 immediately upon completion of the acquisition of Thames Water by Kemble Water.
He joined Macquarie early in 2006 and led the Business Strategy team working on the bid for Thames Water. During this period, he also had responsibility for its investments in European utility and renewable energy companies, including asset management and Board responsibilities for NRE Holding N.V, the Dutch electricity and gas distribution network serving the city of Eindhoven, and Energy Power Resources Limited which has a fleet of renewable energy power generation stations in the UK and Europe.
David is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
Rosy Greenlees
Executive Director, Crafts Council
Rosy is Chair of the Judges and Executive Director of the Crafts Council, the national agency for contemporary craft.
Rosy is a Board member of Creative and Cultural Skills, the sector skills council. She has a MA in Creative and Cultural Industries from Kings College London, University of London and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Aldo Zilli
Celebrity chef and restaurateur
Aldo Zilli is the charismatic owner and chef of his acclaimed Zilli restaurants in Soho. He has also forged an extremely successful career in television, radio and print.
After catering college in Italy Aldo came to England and at the age of 19 decided to concentrate on his passion for Italian food. He acquired his first restaurant, IL Siciliano, in Dean Street. In 1988 he bought the premises at 41 Dean Street and opened Signor Zilli, following this in 1993 next with London’s first authentic Italian bar, Signor Zilli Bar, located next door. Aldo opened Zilli Fish in Brewer Street in June 1997 and it has become an institution since it’s opening, now complemented by an Italian café next door, Zilli Café.
Zaha Hadid
Architect
Zaha Hadid was awarded the Pritzker Prize, considered to be the Nobel Prize of architecture, in 2004 and is internationally known for both her theoretical and academic work.
Currently Hadid is working on a multitude of projects including: The Aquatic Centre for the London 2012 Olympic Games; The Signature Towers in Dubai; Opera Houses in Dubai and China; private residences in Russia and the USA as well as major master-planning projects in Bilbao, Istanbul, and the Middle East.
Tony Juniper
Environmental Advisor
Tony Juniper is a campaigner, writer and commentator and one of the UK’s best-known environmentalists. For the last 25 years he has spent his time seeking change toward a more sustainable society.
Tony now also works as a special advisor to the Prince of Wales’ Rainforest Project and the Cambridge University Program for Industry, where he is a Senior Associate. He sits on advisory panels with the British Council and the Ecologist and BBC Wildlife magazines.
Lynda Relph-Knight
Editor, Design Week
Lynda Relph-Knight has been editor of Design Week since 1989. Before taking up that role on the world¹s only weekly design magazine, she was a freelance journalist specialising in the built environment and design. In that guise, she was a consultant to both Design Week and Building magazine and edited Designing, the Design Council¹s termly magazine for secondary schools.
In 2001 Lynda received an honorary MA from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She became an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Art in June 2007.
Jenny Jones
Green Party regional and local politician
Jenny Jones is a Green Party regional and local politician. She works on Transport, Food and Policing, with an overall concern for environmental and social justice. She is also a leading advocate of civil liberties on the Metropolitan Police Authority.
In 2004, Jenny was Deputy Mayor of London and named as one of 200 ‘women of achievement’ by her Majesty the Queen.
Andrew Cook
WaterAid's Communications and Fundraising Director and Deputy Chief Executive
Andrew has worked in a variety of roles since joining WaterAid in 1997. He has been closely involved with the establishment of WaterAid’s international alliances and was the first Executive Director of WaterAid America from 2003-2006.
Andrew is a member of the UK’s Institute of Fundraising, Association of Fundraising Professionals (USA), and advisor to the European Association of Planned Giving and is a fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (UK).
Professor Jeni Colbourne
Chair of the International Water Association's UK Committee
Professor Colbourne is a Chartered Biologist and brings to the Drinking Water Inspectorate more than 30 years’ experience of working in the water industry.
Jeni is also a Visiting Professor to the Centre for Environmental Health Engineering at the University of Surrey, Member of the Royal Institute of Biology, Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, and Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management. She was awarded the MBE for services to Public Health and Water Industry in New Year 2000 honours list.
